VECHICLE CLASS REGULATIONS 2008
1. The Scrutineers of the day will decide what class you will be entered into.
2. Entrants cannot be passenger in other entrant’s car, unless they have driven the section already.
3. All passengers MUST be signed on before the event starts
4. All entrants MUST have a 1kg (minimum size) AFFF or POWDER extinguisher fitted or they will not be able to enter.
5. All scores will count against the championship, less your lowest score.
R T V RULES
Tax Discs- All vehicles must show a valid tax disc for the entrant’s vehicle (no trade plates or the like allowed).
Body- Bulkhead, cockpit, Crew compartment should be fitted with metal body that includes a crew compartment effectively isolated from the engine, battery, gearbox, transmission, shafts, brakes, road wheels, water tanks and radiators, with a metal bulkhead. It must be fitted with doors that close securely.
Roll Cages- Vehicle must have a metal roof fitted with windscreen and door tops or a roll over bar in the case of a soft-top. Roll cage hoops and stays must be fitted and fastened to the chassis.
Seats- Seats must have backs fitted and be fastened in securely. Seat Belts must be fitted and warn at all times.
Suspension- Must be standard, dislocation cones and the like cannot be used.
Wheels and tyres- Vehicle must be fitted with four wheels and tyres that are road legal and not re-cut, studded or fitted with chains. Wheels must be fitted with the correct number of studs and nuts. Spare wheels must be securely strapped, if carried. Tyres should be covered by suitable mud guards that cover around an arc of 120 degrees of all road wheels. Minimum tyre pressure must be at least 22 psi and a tyre size of no more than 33” tall. No wheel spacers are to be fitted.
Fuel tanks- Fuel tanks must be fitted outside seating compartment. No fuel pipes should enter the passenger compartment. Tanks and caps must not leak. Tanks may be moved to the rear of the vehicle. Filler caps must not protrude beyond the body of the vehicle, and any vents must be 10” away from the seating compartment. LPG is allowed. No fuel to be carried in cans inside a competing vehicle.
Battery- Battery must be securely fastened, with positive terminal covered. It is advised that a battery cut off switch, or and isolator switch be fitted, and in a clearly marked position.
Brakes- Brakes must work effectively on all wheels. All brake pipes must be securely fastened to chassis and axles. Hand brakes must work effectively. No fiddle brakes allowed. If fiddle breaks are fitted then they must be able to be locked off so that they cannot be used.
Steering- Vehicles must be fitted with a full circumference steering wheel. All components must be in good order.
Engines- A throttle return spring must be fitted to the throttle butterfly, to shut off the throttle in the event of linkage failure. Engines must be started and stopped from inside the vehicle.
Exhaust- Must silence the engine adequately, and must not enter the cab area, and must be routed away from the fuel lines.
Cooling system- Cooling system must be fitted outside the seating compartment. Any water pipes passing through the cab should be of metal, or encased in metal or metal braided.
Recovery points- Must be fitted at the front and rear, and securely fastened to the chassis or bumper, which is secured to the chassis. The tow point must accept a rope loop securely. There must be no sharp edges, and a rope with a minimum breaking strain of 8 tonnes, looped at both ends, must be carried in all vehicles, at all times. A one inch diameter nylon rope is recommended. Wire rope and chains are not to be used. All shackles used must be of a minimum rating of 3.75 tonnes.
Bumpers- A front bumper of substance (metal) must be fitted between chassis rails.
Axles- No axle diff lockers are too be used.
Fire extinguishers- 1kg (minimum size) AFFF or POWDER extinguishers must be carried.
To qualify for this category you must not have any performance modifications what so ever.
INTER RULES
No tax and test required but no scrap yard specials please.
Body- Vehicles should have a crew compartment that completely isolates occupants from the engine, battery, gearbox, transmission, shafts, brakes, road wheels, water tanks and radiators. Chassis and body should be in sound safe condition with no sharp edges.
Roll Cages (If Fitted)-. Must be constructed of a rear hoop with diagonal bracing, and two rear stays securely fastened to main chassis legs. Vehicles with no door tops and windscreen must have a full cage fitted. (All cages should comply with MSA regulations).
Seats and harnesses- Seats must have backs fitted and be fastened in securely. Seat Belts must be fitted and worn at all times. Harnesses are not to be used unless a full roll cage is fitted.
Suspension- Vehicles must have sprung suspension, fitted between axles and chassis, shocks must be fitted. Dislocation cones can be used.
Transmission- All transmission parts must be outside passenger compartment & must have a reverse gear. No axle diff locks to be used, (unless fitted as standard). Any components can be used as long as they are from a standard road vehicle.

CCV RULES
Body- Vehicles should have a crew compartment that completely isolates occupants from the engine, battery, gearbox, transmission, shafts, brakes, wheels, fuel tank, water tanks and radiators. Chassis and body should be in sound safe condition with no sharp edges. Side panels should be a minimum of 15cm above the seat cushion height.
Roll Cage- Two hoops, diagonal brace on rear hoop and two stays. Rear hoop must be attached to main chassis legs, and not outriggers. Front hoop may be fastened to bulkhead uprights, if they are strong enough, or to chassis outriggers. Chassis, if not 3mm thick must be plated suitably with 3mm plate, where roll cage is fitted to chassis and outriggers. Outriggers must be minimum 3mm wall and be full depth at chassis and minimum 50mm x 50mm at point of roll cage attachment. Cage may be welded or bolted using minimum 7/16ins high tensile bolts, 4 to each mounting point on rear cage, and 2 to front hoop. (All cages should comply with MSA regulations).
Chassis- May be of own design, and can incorporate safety devices, main legs and x members must be minimum 90x50x3mm wall thickness or equivalent.
Seats and harness- Seat(s) must have backs fitted and be fastened in securely. Minimum of a Full 3 point harness must be fitted and worn correctly at all times, not just the lap part of the harness.
Suspension- Vehicles must have sprung suspension, fitted between axles and chassis, shocks must be fitted.
Transmission- All transmission parts must be outside passenger compartment must have a reverse gear.

The Clerk of the Course (CoC) decision is FINAL ON THE DAY. (In case of dispute the committee will consult the MSA General Regulations and interpret them as they see fit.)
